Guernica - Pablo PicassoOne of the most famous paintings in history, Picasso's 'Guernica' made its debut at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. It graphically displays the carnage and violence from when the German Luftwaffe, acting in support of the soon-to-be Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, bombed the townspeople of the small Basque city for which the painting is named.
