William Strutt

Peace - William StruttThis painting was completed in 1896 by the artist William Strutt, an Englishman who studied at the Ecole des beaux arts in Paris.  Shortly after the completion of this signature work of his, it was mass reproduced in sepia tone by Franz Hanfstaengl, finding its way very quickly into homes around the world.  The work has also come to be known by an alternate title, "And a little child shall lead them", taken from the Old Testament verse in the Book of Isaiah where the artist drew his inspiration.
